As the Indian summer remains windy and wet, I stay at home waiting for the weather to improve so I can start the run. Having spoken to Steve it looks promising for the swim to take place on Monday. (very early) If this is the case I will start running on Saturday.

WAITING GAME

I have just spoken to Steve and the weather has now put the start back 24 hours. This is frustrating however, this is the nature of the challenge! I am waiting at home with my family some of the support crew (Bob and Vernon) hoping for the green light. The van is packed and now is down to the weather gods…

COUNTING THE DAYS…..

As training is slowly coming to an end, I am now counting the days and looking forward to the start of the Enduroman Arch to Arc. I am just hoping that the weather improves as swimmers are getting frustrating in Dover due to the conditions in the channel are not good enough to swim. Fingers crossed if all goes well weather depending, I will start running on 4^th September at around 10:30 am.

Good luck to my friend Hamish Reid and his pal Dominic Jones who are also waiting in Dover to do a relay channel swim.

5 WEEKS TO GO….

Last weekend Joanne and I went down to Weymouth for another swim session with Tom – I did 8 hours. Swimming for that amount of time is hard work thankfully just one more training swim to go next weekend, then the really thing!! Not much more to report on for now.

Sorry I have not been in contact over the past few weeks time is going so quickly and the Arch to Arc is just around the corner. I have been extremely busy at work over the past weeks which have had a knock on effect making my training very hard. I went to Weymouth for another long swim with my wife Joanne yesterday. Sickness when swimming is still an issue, I did try some motion sickness remedies. However, they did not make much difference, every few hours I was sick!! We are back in Weymouth next weekend for another swim session…

Sorry I have not been in contact lately I have been flat out…… Work at home has been hectic with a week in Edinburgh at the Royal Highland Show selling bridges. I had another six hour swim in Weymouth – still been sick every hour which is not much fun!! Two more weeks and ill be back down there, but this time for a eight hour session!!

WEYMOUTH SWIM

This weekend Joanne and went down to Weymouth for my first six hour swim. This swim went well however, I found it really hard to keep my food down while in the sea and swimming. I was sick four times in six hours – never mind it’s just something I am going to have to get used too. I do believe long distance swimming really is one of the toughest sports in the world.

A quite week for me this week and back to Weymouth next week for another six hour swim – I am looking forward to it!!

GUERNSEY

Last weekend I went to Guernsey with a group of friend and my film production crew (Caldwell and Fisher productions) to swim from Guernsey to Sark. Sark is an island about 10 miles fromGuernsey I completed the swim in 3 hours 20 mins. I did this swim with a friend Hamish Reid who is swimming the channel two weeks before I begin the Arch to Arc. We had a fantastic weekend and it was a good first taster to sea swimming.

This weekend I was meant to be swimming in Weymouth however, due to bad weather condition the boat pilot cancelled the swim – hopefully my firstWeymouth swim will be next weekend…..
