Uncategorized No Comments »

race-wales-001.jpg

Not a huge amount to report on this week. I have had a busy week with work but after last weekend’s ultra triathlon I have not done a great deal of training. Next weekend I am of to Guernsey to complete a long sea swim, this will be interesting.

I would like to thank Triathlon Vision (www.triathlonvision.com) for there continuous support. They have supplied me with first class goggles and sun glasses which I have been wearing during races and training.  If you are looking for goggles or glasses this summer I would highly recommend Triathlon Vision!

I have also been trying hard to get over cold viruses for the last week which has not been much fun. With the Accelerace Wales Ultra just one week away – I need to be feeling good as this race will be extremely demanding set is some of the most beautiful country in the

BEAVER SHOP

Just to let you know my Beaver shop is now up and running. If you click on the Beaver shop tap you will see that I am selling Exposure lights. I have said it before and I’ll say it again these really are quality lights. Any profits that I make from selling these lights will go towards my pilot boat which will support me on my channel swim.

This weekend I went walking with Steve (who is coaching me for the Enduroman Arch to Arc), his wife Lucy, friend Greg and of course the dogs. After a night of persistent rain, Hamish (my trusty dog) and I drove through some massive floods to meet the others at 10 am in the car par of the Story Arms – Brecon Beacons. We walked a modified version of the famous Fan Dance over Pen-Y-Fan. We walked for about four and half hours, it was a misty day with the rain threatening, but thankfully it stayed away. This walk was all in preparation for Steve and I running The Oner in two weeks time..

BUFF!!!

fun-002-1.jpg

I have been fortunate enough to be sponsored by the headwear company Buff. Finally this last week I got a parcel from the US, with all my personalized Running Beaver buffs (please check out the photo,) I think they are awesome. I have already tested them out on a few training session, they are so versatile and work brilliantly.

Training this week has been long and hard. It has included lots of swimming, 3 hours of cycling and 8 hours of running.  However, my mind as been focused on this past weekend as was very family orientated and sad due to it been my cousin Blake’s funeral. Blake is my main drive behind attempting the Arch to Arc as he went missing 4 years ago. (For more information please read his story www.blakehartley.com.) I hope to raise a lot of awareness and funds for missing people during this whole experience as it really has been a triadic few years for all our family.  Next week to the Brecon Beacons………

DISTANCE INCREACES !!

longmynd-005.jpg

Not a huge amount to report on this week. I have been doing the normal hours in the pool plodding back and forth (I am beginning to get noticed by the locals – as the ‘crazy guy doing the channel swim thing!’). However, there is a noticeable increase of time spent running in preparation for the ONER. On Saturday I pushed out 5 hours over the rolling hills of Shropshire, next week it looks like a 8 hour run is on the cards - bring it on……..

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you to Nature Vally for supporting me with my attempt this of the Arch to Arc this year. I work a very physical job and thus need to keep my energy high for training at end of the day. I have found Nature Vally bars ideal for snacking on. These bars taste great and give you natural energy when you need it most. If you have not tried them then I would recommend that you do.
